Nope this isn't a skating move... it seems if you don't have a post in the root blog then it throws an error - even though the only reason why you have sub-blogs in the DNN blog module is that it's forced on you because it doesn't allow a basic blog category.
Also notice how the other "Pah" summary, ignores the A, B, C setting on the list... 
I also found that I had a strange error from DNN at the bottom of the blog post saying that it was unable to initialise the blog (despite showing it!). After an hour or so searching for a solution I've given up and switched to Ventrian Systems Articles module. I've used their modules on other sites and they make good products that actually do what they're supposed to with a minimum of fuss.
So here it is, the triple (and probably quadruple) pah!!!!
